주로 공식적/중요한 상황에서 사용하고, 'take it upon oneself'는 본인이 자발적으로 맡는 뉘앙스를 가진다. 사소한 일에는 잘 쓰이지 않음.

She decided to take upon the project when no one else volunteered.

아무도 나서지 않자 그녀가 그 프로젝트를 **맡았다**.
