누군가의 말을 그대로 믿고 추가적인 증거나 설명 없이 받아들이는 것.

주로 신뢰를 나타내거나 조심스럽거나 공식적인 상황에서 사용한다. '말을 문자 그대로 받아들이다'와는 다르니 혼동 주의.

You can take me at my word; I promise I'll help you.

**내 말을 믿어도 돼**; 꼭 도와줄게.

She said it was safe, so I took her at her word.
