'निलंबन' अस्थायी रूप से किसी चीज़ को रोकने की क्रिया को या उस तरल को दर्शाता है जिसमें ठोस कण घुले नहीं होते बल्कि बिखरे रहते हैं।

अंग्रेज़ी में 'suspensions' आमतौर पर अस्थायी प्रतिबंधों (स्कूल, खेल) या सेवा/प्रिविलेज़ के अस्थायी रुकाव के लिए आता है। विज्ञान में अर्थ है जिस द्रव में ठोस कण घुले नहीं हैं। इसे 'expulsions' (स्थायी निष्कासन) से न मिलाएँ। आम प्रयोग: 'school suspensions', 'account suspensions', 'paint suspensions'।
