'suspending' শব্দটি আনুষ্ঠানিক পরিস্থিতিতে বা প্রতিষ্ঠানিক সিদ্ধান্তে বেশি ব্যবহার হয়, যেমন 'স্থগিতকরণ', 'অস্থায়ী বন্ধ' ইত্যাদি। 'শেষ' করার মতো স্থায়ী নয়।
