ある人の後に地位や称号などを受け継ぐこと。多くは継承や正式な規則による。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

フォーマルで、法律や歴史、公式な場面で使われます（例：“succeed to the throne”）。'succeed in'（成功する）とは違います。'the throne','the presidency'などと一緒に使われます。
