Definition

物や人を水や他の液体の中に完全に沈めること。また、環境や経験などに深く没頭する意味でも使われる。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

科学や技術的な場面、または詳しく説明する場合によく使われます。"submerging"は物を沈める場合や、“submerging yourself in work”のように比喩的に自分を没頭させる場合にも使います。日常会話ではあまり使いません。
