누군가를 과하게 칭찬해서 중요하게 느끼게 하거나 기분을 맞춰주는 것. 상대를 기쁘게 하거나 이용하려 할 때 자주 쓰임.

비공식적이고 약간 비꼬거나 장난스럽게 쓸 수 있음. 'just trying to stroke your ego'처럼 사용됨. 격식 있는 상황에서는 피할 것.
