Definition

किसी शहर, कस्बे या बस्ती की सड़कें, जिनके किनारे आमतौर पर इमारतें होती हैं। यह 'street' का बहुवचन है और अक्सर शहरी सार्वजनिक जगहों के लिए सामान्य रूप में भी इस्तेमाल होता है।

Usage Notes (Hindi)

यह आमतौर पर शहरी इलाकों की सड़कों के लिए आता है, न कि हाईवे या गाँव की सड़कों के लिए। सामान्य संयोजन हैं 'on the streets', 'empty streets' और 'the streets were busy'। आधुनिक अंग्रेज़ी में 'on the street' , 'in the street' से कहीं ज़्यादा सामान्य है।
