話し方や文章が不自然だったり、過度に形式的だったりして、自然に感じられない様子。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に会話や文章について使われます。「stilted conversation」「stilted dialogue」などの表現で、物理的なものには使いません。形式ばっていて自然さがないときに使われます。
