Definition

किसी चीज़ को अधिक कठोर या अकड़ बनाना, या खुद सख्त हो जाना। डर या गुस्से में शरीर का अकड़ जाना भी इसी अर्थ में आता है।

'Stiffen' का उपयोग वस्तु, शरीर या भावनाओं के संदर्भ में होता है। आम वाक्यांश: 'stiffen up', 'stiffen someone's resolve'। इसे 'tighten' (जो कसना है, सख्त करना नहीं) से न मिलाएँ।
