حالة يتوقف فيها كل تقدم أو حركة تماماً؛ لا يحدث أو يتغير شيء.

غالباً يُستخدم كاسم مع عبارة 'at a standstill' لوصف الشلل التام في المرور أو المفاوضات أو العمل. شائع في الأخبار واللغة الرسمية وأيضاً في المحادثات اليومية.
