새싹

Definition

씨앗이나 식물에서 자라나는 아주 어린 새싹이나 어린잎을 말하며, 주로 음식 재료로 쓰는 콩나물, 브로콜리 새싹 등을 포함한다.

‘새싹’은 일반적으로 콩나물 등 식용 어린잎을 가리킨다. 'sprouts'처럼 복수로 많이 쓰며, 하나의 싹에는 단수 ‘새싹’을 사용한다. 브뤼셀 콩나물(Brussels sprouts)과는 다르다.
