春の成長期に木が急速に成長する際にできる、柔らかくて色が明るい部分の木材。

主に植物学や木材科学の専門用語です。「summerwood（晩材）」と対比して使われ、一般会話ではほとんど使いません。春材は色が明るく、細胞が大きいのが特徴です。
