아무리 애써도 전혀 진전이나 결과가 없는 상태.

주로 일, 공부 등에서 아무리 해도 성과가 없을 때 쓰는 비격식적 표현. 실제 차량과는 관련 없음.

I studied all night, but I was just spinning my wheels.

나는 밤새 공부했지만, 그냥 **헛돌고** 있었어.
