Definition

যখন কোনো বিষয়ে নিশ্চিত তথ্য না থাকলে ভবিষ্যৎ বা ঘটনাপ্রবাহ নিয়ে ভাবনা বা অনুমান করা হয়, সেটাই হলো জল্পনা। এটি অর্থনৈতিক বিষয়ে ঝুঁকিপূর্ণ ব্যবসায়িক কাজকর্মকেও বোঝাতে পারে।

Usage Notes (Bengali)

দুইভাবেই ব্যবহৃত হয়— সাধারন আলোচনায় (ঘটনা নিয়ে অনুমান) এবং আর্থিক প্রসঙ্গে (ঝুঁকিপূর্ণ বিনিয়োগ)। 'speculations about', 'speculations that' ইত্যাদিতে বহুবচনই বেশি হয়। 'rumors'-এর মতো নয়; জল্পনা মানে অনুমান বা ভাবনা, ভুল খবর নয়।
