說話聲音更大讓別人聽見，或公開直接表達自己的意見，尤其是關於重要問題時。

Usage Notes (Chinese (Traditional))

可指提高音量，也可指勇於發表意見。會議或課堂上常聽到禮貌請求，如“Can you speak up?” 也用於鼓勵表達，如“speak up for yourself”。'speak out' 則更偏重批判性公開表達。
