说话声音更大让别人听见，或公开直接表达自己的观点，尤其是关于重要问题时。

Usage Notes (Chinese (Simplified))

既可指声音大些，也可指勇敢表达自己的想法。会议或课堂常听到礼貌请求，如“Can you speak up?” 也用于鼓励表达观点，如“speak up for yourself”。与“speak out”略有区别，后者偏重公开批评。
