Definition

「まこと」は古語・詩で使われる「真実」「現実」という意味の言葉です。まれに「慰めの言葉」としても使われます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

現代日本語では使われません。シェイクスピアや古典詩の訳など、特定の文脈でのみ現れます。'soothe（なだめる）'とは異なります。
