승패가 날 때까지 강하게 경쟁하거나 싸우는 것을 의미함. 대개 매우 결연하고 직접적으로 맞붙을 때 사용됨.

일상적이고 비공식적인 상황(스포츠, 비즈니스, 언쟁 등)에서 자주 쓰임. 치열하고 오래 지속되는 경쟁이나 다툼에 사용됨. 공식 문서에는 적합하지 않음.

The two teams will slug it out in the final match.
