Um parapeito é a saliência horizontal na base de uma janela ou porta, normalmente servindo de apoio ou prateleira.

Usa-se mais para 'parapeito da janela'. É comum falar sobre colocar plantas ou objetos no peitoril da janela. Não confundir com 'seal' (vedante) nem 'still' (ainda).
