Definition

진짜인 척하지만 사실은 거짓이거나 가짜인 것. 또는 다른 사람인 척하는 사람을 가리킬 때도 사용됨.

주로 공식적이나 문어체에서 쓰이며 사기, 가짜 행위, 거짓된 태도 등에 사용됨. 'total sham', 'complete sham', 'the trial was a sham' 등과 함께 쓰임.
