서치라이트는 강한 빛줄기를 내어 밤에 물체를 찾거나 비추는 데 사용하는 조명으로, 주로 긴급 상황, 보안, 공연 등에 쓰입니다.

주로 대규모 야외나 공식 목적(보안, 구조, 군사, 행사)에 사용합니다. 일상 가정에서는 거의 쓰이지 않습니다. 'beam', 'sweep the sky', 'turn on/off the searchlight' 등과 같이 쓰이고, 때로는 강한 집중을 비유적으로 표현할 때도 사용됩니다.
