何か（特に食べ物やお金）を頼んだり、探したりして手に入れようとすること。あまり正直な方法ではない場合が多い。

カジュアルでやや否定的な印象。"scrounging off friends"は友達にたかること。"scrounging for change"は小銭を必死に探すこと。"begging"ほど強くないが、工夫したりずる賢いニュアンスも含む。
