Definition

アメリカンフットボールやラグビーなどで、本番の試合ではなく、実戦に近い形で行う練習試合のこと。

主にアメリカ英語で使われ、通常アメフトやラグビーなどのチームスポーツで使用されます。「scrimmaging」は公式戦ではなく練習試合を指し、「scrimmage line」や戦争の「skirmish」とは異なります。

The football team is scrimmaging after school today.
