어려움 속에서 어떤 것(주로 돈이나 자원)을 간신히 모으다. 여러 곳에서 조금씩 모으는 경우가 많음.

비공식적 표현이며 돈이나 자원을 힘겹게 모을 때 주로 씀. 'scratch together enough money' 등이 자주 쓰임. 실제로 긁는다는 뜻은 아님.

We had to scratch together enough money for rent.
