Definition

跡継ぎは名家や裕福な家系の若い世代を指します。また、接ぎ木に使う植物の新芽や枝も意味します。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

フォーマルや文学的な場面で使われ、特に名家や王族などに関して現れます。植物の場合、接ぎ木用の枝や芽の意味だけで使われます。「普通の子ども」には使いません。
