Usar todo el tiempo posible, especialmente al final de un partido, para evitar que el otro equipo tenga oportunidad de anotar o ganar.

Principalmente usada en contextos deportivos (fútbol, baloncesto, etc.), a veces se usa en otras situaciones para indicar retrasar a propósito. Variante común: 'dejar que el tiempo se agote'. Generalmente no se usa para situaciones cotidianas sin competencia.
