'Rummaging' अनौपचारिक शब्द है, अक्सर शोर या अस्त-व्यस्त तरीके से कुछ ढूँढने का भाव आता है, आमतौर पर हाथों से टटोलते हुए। अक्सर 'through' के साथ आता है ('rummaging through a bag')।
