「rowed」は、オールでボートを漕いで進んだことを表す過去形の言葉です。つまり、オールを使って水の上でボートを動かしました。

「rowed」はオールでボートを動かす場合のみ使います。「row（けんか）」とは別の単語です。「rowed across the lake」「rowed back home」などのフレーズでよく使われ、主に過去の出来事に使われます。
