Definition

ローンなどの未払いのため、銀行や貸主が車や家などの財産を取り戻すこと。

主に銀行や金融の場面で使われます。「車を差し押さえる」など、個人間の日常の「取り戻す」には使いません。

The bank will repossess the car if you do not pay the loan.

ローンを払わないと、銀行は車を**差し押さえ**ます。

They had to repossess the house because the owner stopped making payments.
