Definition

একটি পরিবেশ থেকে অন্য পরিবেশে তরঙ্গ (বিশেষ করে আলো বা শব্দ) প্রবেশ করলে তার গতিপথ বাঁকানোর ঘটনাকে বিকৃতি বা অপবর্তন বলে। সাধারণত আলো পানিতে পড়লে এই ঘটনা দেখতে পাওয়া যায়।

Usage Notes (Bengali)

বিজ্ঞান ও পদার্থবিজ্ঞানে বেশি ব্যবহৃত হয়। "angle of refraction" ও "index of refraction"— এ ধরনের শব্দগুচ্ছ সাধারণ। প্রতিফলনের (reflection) সাথে আলাদা; এখানে তরঙ্গ বেঁকে যায়, ফিরে আসে না।
