大学や一部の教会の最高責任者。組織の運営や方針決定を担う人。

「rector」はヨーロッパやラテンアメリカの大学で使われることが多いです。アメリカの大学では「president」や「chancellor」と表現されます。教会の主任にも使われますが、会社や政府には使いません。
