何かに突然気づいたり、理解したりすることを表します。まれに何かを実現する意味もありますが、ほとんどは気づくという意味で使われます。
Usage Notes (Japanese)
イギリス英語では 'realise'、アメリカ英語では 'realize'。'he realises that...' のような「that構文」と一緒に使われやすいです。'recognise'（見たことのある人や物を識別する）と混同しないように注意しましょう。
