호되게 혼내다엄하게 꾸짖다

Definition

누군가 잘못을 했을 때 아주 화를 내며 엄하게 혼내거나 경고하는 것. 주로 부모님, 선생님, 상사가 사용.

관용 표현으로, 실제로 무언가를 읽는 것이 아니라 심하게 혼내거나 강하게 경고할 때 쓴다. 상사나 부모님이 자주 사용하는 구절.

The teacher read the riot act to the noisy students.

선생님이 시끄러운 학생들에게 **호되게 혼냈다**.
