Definition
ピラミッドとは、四角形または三角形の土台と、頂点で交わる4つの三角形の面を持つ立体の形です。また、エジプトや中南米などにある古代の石造建造物も指します。

エジプトの古代建築物を指す場合が多いですが、幾何学用語（『pyramid shape』）、組織構造（『corporate pyramid』）、詐欺的な仕組み（『pyramid scheme』）でも使います。『food pyramid』は食事バランス表を指します。
