「Purl」は編み物で糸を手前に持ってきて裏目を編むこと。また、川や水の流れるやさしい音も指します。

主に編み物の際「裏編み」に使われます。文学や詩で水のせせらぎを表現する時にも用いられますが、日常会話ではほぼ登場しません。
