‘프록시’는 다른 사람을 대신해 행동하는 사람이나, 사용자를 대신해 인터넷에 접속해주는 서버를 말합니다. 법률, 경영, IT 등에서 사용됩니다.

사람에게는 공식적이고 격식 있는 표현, IT에서는 '프록시 서버'가 흔함. '근사치'의 뜻과 혼동 주의. 주로 'proxy for'나 여러 대의 'proxies'로 쓰임.
