フォークやプラグなどについている、細くてとがった部分のこと。それらは物を刺したり、支えたり、つなげたりする役割を持つ。

特にフォークやプラグの先端によく使う。'The prongs of a fork'は「フォークの歯」、同じような形状があるものにも使える。日常・専門どちらでも用いられ、俗語ではほとんど使わない。
