Definition

プロローグとは、本や劇、映画の冒頭で物語の背景や状況を説明する導入部分です。これにより読者や観客が話に入りやすくなります。

「プロローグ」は文学・演劇・映画に使われるフォーマルな用語です。「序文」や「まえがき」とは別で、物語の展開に直接関わる導入部分を指します。すべての物語に必ずあるわけではありません。

The prologue explains what happened before the main story begins.
