Definition

何かを詳しく調べたり、道具や質問で探ったりすること。物理的な調査や抽象的な調査に用いられることが多い。

主に医療・科学の分野や真実を探る場面で使う、やや堅い表現。日常の「見る」や「確認する」とは異なり、詳細な調査が含まれる場合に使う。

The doctor probed the wound to see how deep it was.

医者は傷の深さを確認するために**調べた**。
