Definition

予備選挙とは、政党のメンバーが後の本選挙に出る候補者を選ぶための選挙です。まれに、何かの基礎的な要素を指すこともあります。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主にアメリカの政党内選挙を指します。「the primaries」と複数形で使われます。一般選挙には使われません。
