音を聞いて、動物が耳を立てたり、人が突然注意を向けたりすること。興味深い話題や予想外のことに反応するときによく使います。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

動物（特に犬や馬）だけでなく、人にも比喩的に使います。「prick up your ears」という形が定番で、人の場合やや文学的な表現です。日常会話ではあまり使いません。
