動物が他の動物を食べるために狩る場合、または誰かが弱い人の弱みにつけこむこと。

多くの場合受け身形（'was preyed upon'）で使われます。動物なら狩り、対人なら弱者への搾取。人を利用する意味は特にフォーマルな表現です。
