কিছু একটিকে উপর থেকে জোর দিয়ে চাপা বা চেপে ধরা, সাধারণত সমতল করা, কাজ করানো বা স্থির রাখতে।

সাধারণত হাতে বা আঙ্গুল দিয়ে ব্যবহার হয়; 'press down on the button' মানে বোতামটি জোরে চাপুন; শুধু 'press' শব্দের চেয়ে বেশি নিচের দিকে চাপ দেয়।
