বিজ্ঞান, ইতিহাস ও প্রযুক্তিতে বেশি ব্যবহৃত হয়। 'precursors to' মানে 'এর পূর্বসূরি'। কথ্য ভাষায় খুব একটা ব্যবহৃত হয় না।
