'precursor' আফিসিয়াল বা বিজ্ঞান, ইতিহাস, টেকনিক্যাল প্রসঙ্গে বেশি ব্যবহৃত হয়। 'precursor to', 'precursor of disease' ইত্যাদি বাক্যাংশে ব্যবহার হয়। 'ancestor' বা 'forerunner' এর সাথে গুলিয়ে ফেলবেন না।
