특정 목적(투표, 경찰, 행정 등)으로 구분된 지역이나, 건물 주위의 경내를 뜻합니다.

주로 'voting precinct'(투표구), 'police precinct'(경찰서 관할구역) 등 공식적인 상황에서 쓰입니다. 일반 '지역'보다 격식 있는 말이며, 상황에 따라 의미가 달라집니다.
