'প্রস্তাবনা' সাধারণত সংবিধান বা আইনি-দলিলের সূচনায় ব্যবহৃত হয়। এটি সাধারন ভূমিকা বা 'পূর্বকথন' (preface) নয়। 'the preamble to the Constitution' মানে সংবিধানের প্রস্তাবনা।
