Definition

誰かや何かを捕まえたり攻撃したりするために、素早く飛びかかること。主に動物の行動に使われるが、突然の素早い人間の動作にも使われる。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

動物が獲物を襲う時によく使われますが、人がチャンスや相手の間違いを素早く捉える場合にも使います。多くの場合、過去形（〜た）で使われます。
