عادةً يتبعها اسم، وتستخدم لتحديد شخص أو شيء كسبب أو مثال. شائعة في السياق الرسمي أو التحليلي مثل 'point to X as the cause'. لا تخلط مع 'point at' (إشارة جسدية).
